Disable RCS on iPhone

Disable RCS on iPhone

When RCS is enabled on the iPhones, they will not be able to send/receive RCS messages until the device is connected back to Wi-Fi - it relies on iMessage to work which is not enabled on our cellular service.

iMessage requires a unique Apple ID for each device - which is not enabled from our MDM.

Follow these steps to disable or verify that RCS messaging is disabled:
  1. Unlock the iPhone and navigate to 'Settings'

  2. Scroll down to the bottom where it says 'Apps'
⚠️ Warning: If you are not seeing a section for 'Apps' then the iPhone needs to be updated. If that is the case please touch base with the Supervisor on how to proceed.

  3.  In the Apps section, scroll down to 'Messages'

  4. Towards the bottom of the Messages page, select 'RCS Messaging' to enter the RCS menu

  5.  Toggle OFF the top RCS Messaging toggle to turn it off
You may see either 2 or 3 different toggles in the RSC Messaging section depending on the iPhone's iOS version.

  6. Confirm that the RCS Messaging setting is toggled Off

SUCCESS: RCS Messaging has been successfully disabled on the iPhone. Messages should be delivered normally.
